Nursing Home Standards

May 7, 2024

On November 16, 2023, the MLTCOP submitted comments to the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) regarding minimum staffing standards for nursing homes. Over 46,000 comments were submitted on these proposed regulations.

OAA Regulations

On August 13, 2023, the MLTCOP submitted comments to the Administration on Community Living regarding several aging services programs, including the Long Term Care Ombudsman Program.

Oustanding Case Advocacy Award

Ahnuh Hayes, Long Term Care Ombudsman serving in Region 2 (Lenawee, Jackson, and Hillsdale Counties,) received the Michigan Advocacy Program's Oustanding Case Advocacy Award. On December 2, 2023, Ahnuh was recognized for her advocacy work as the local long term care ombudsman for 10 years. In one case this year, Ahnunh worked for months to facilitate the transition of a resident from a nursing home to the home of their devoted caregiver. Congratulations to Ahnuh for this outstanding award. 


Annual Reports

The MLTCOP sends an annual report to the legislature, governor, and state agency leadership in January for the previous fiscal year ending on September 30th. The report provides aggregate data on complaints and activities completed by the program as well as other program highlights.
