Everyone has rights!

People living in long term care settings have rights as a resident of the home. They also have the right to exercise all of their civil and constitutional rights they had before moving into long term care.

If a resident has a court-appointed guardian, the guardian should protect the resident's rights and may be able to make decisions for the resident.

They have the right to be free of interference, coercion, discrimination, and reprisal in exercising their rights.

Here are some simple tools to help understand these important resident rights.
