Abuse Prevention Training
The MLTCOP provides abuse prevention training for staff in long term care homes. This training covers the basics of abuse prevention training, including definitions, identification, and reporting. More importantly, this training works to create a team approach to prevention by exploring stressors and supporting team members. This training focuses on working together to create communities where people want to live and work. Please contact us to learn more about this program.
Elder Abuse Task Force
In 2019, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel convened the Elder Abuse Task Force, representing over 55 different organizations in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors - working together to combat elder abuse. Several MLTCOP program representatives serve on the task force, committees, and subcommittees to help address the abuse, neglect, and exploitation of vulnerable adults. The MLTCOP served on the Public Awareness Committee, which created a series of informational recordings to help educate the public, providers, and residents on abuse prevention. Click here to view the ten modules in this training series.
Educational Brochures
Another outcome of the Elder Abuse Task Force was an educational brochure to help readers understand the signs of abuse, how to report abuse and identify agencies to respond to concerns of abuse. The brochures are available in several languages, including a video in American Sign Language (ASL).
